High Side Drive (pdf, 361k) describes a high side driver circuit that uses no level shifting circuits, high voltage semiconductors, or magnetics, but has efficiency and speed comparable to a gate drive transformer. This high side driver can be used with N channel mosfets in active reset circuits that have a reference (source) voltage that shifts up and down as the reset (clamp) capacitor voltage varies. This file illustrates the circuit and shows how the circuit is used with some other circuits in practical applications.
High Side Drive 2 (pdf 135k) describes a high side driver circuit that uses no level shifting circuits, high voltage semiconductors, or magnetics, but has efficiency and speed comparable to a gate drive transformer. This high side driver can be used with N channel mosfets in active reset circuits that have a reference (source) voltage that shifts up and down as the reset (clamp) capacitor voltage varies. A complete schematic of the circuit is illustrated.
Optimal Switch Timing (pdf 311k) describes a simple, but effective, optimal switch timing circuit that is useful for zero voltage switches and synchronous rectifiers.
Zero Voltage Switching Active Clamp Flyback Converter (pdf 274k) describes and illustrates in high detail the operation of a high efficiency flyback converter.
